Christoph Martens

Christoph Martens joined the Centre for Public Health Research in 2015 and works in the role of Clinical Research Assistant. He completed a Diploma of Nursing in Austria in 2004 and worked as a Registered Nurse in a cardiac & angiographic ward for several years. He later completed a Bachelor degree in Development Studies at the University of Vienna and recently graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health. His current work involves investigating the role of airway bacteria in the development of childhood asthma. He is also performing clinical testing on participants for a number of studies including another asthma study investigating neurogenic dysfunction as a key mechanism in asthma development. Christoph is leading the process of standardising clinical protocols and helps out with other projects such as CPHR’s Facebook page. His research interests are social determinants of health, international public health, sexually transmitted diseases and public health of minority populations like LGBTIQ.
